These three acres are both a glamping site and a nurturing regenerative island habitat. Around the yurts, Pippa and Andrew are developing a landscape of orchard, meadow, woodland edges, hedging, bee keeping and a large food forest garden. The site uses regenerative agriculture principles, supports rare Arran whitebeam trees, and actively enhances habitat for wildlife through meadow management, woodland planting, hedgerows and organic composting. And for their efforts, they have been accredited as ScotLAND demonstration site, for showing how small-scale hospitality, permaculture, and ecological stewardship can coexist on the Isle of Arran.

The Isle of Arran itself is unusually rich in wildlife. It is home to all of Scotland’s “Big 5”: red squirrel, red deer, harbour seal, otter and golden eagle, alongside many other rare plants, birds, insects and coastal species. Runach Arainn brings that wider island ecology close to the guest experience, with wildlife guides for children, a willow den, a wildlife rubbing trail, meadow flowers, bees and nature tours or educational information available for visitors.

Sustainability here is also practical. The yurts use solar lighting, green electricity site-wide, wood-burning stoves for heat and cooking, waterless compost toilets, recycling, composting of green and organic waste, EV charging, upcycled furniture, recycled materials and an ethical purchasing approach that favours charities, fair trade products and local producers.

Guests come for the close natural connection, the wood stove, firepit, beach walks and island air and in doing so help support a small landscape where food, wildlife, education and low-impact tourism are being carefully woven together.
